Minimization of finite wordlength error in 2-D FIR digital filters in the frequency domain

چکیده
This paper presents a method to minimize the nite wordlength error in output signals of linear phase 2-D FIR lters. The nite wordlength errors can easily be analyzed in the frequency domain when the input signal statistics are known. In the case of white input signals, impulse responses corresponding to all levels of input impulses are optimized so as to minimize the errors. A new ROM-based lter structure is proposed in which the optimized impulse responses are stored in the ROM. The output signals are generated by superposing the impulse responses corresponding to the input levels. Many results of simulations con rm that the output signals of the proposed lters have far less errors than those of conventional lters.

Design of optimum high-order finite-wordlength digital FIR filters with linear phase
A novel iterative quantization procedure for the design of finite wordlength linear phase FIR filters of high order and minimum frequency domain error is proposed: a one by one increased number of filter coefficients is quantized where the augmented frequency domain error is re-minimized in each case. This new approach achieves a smaller frequency domain error than rounding of the optimal non-q...
متن کاملDesign of IIR Digital Filter using Modified Chaotic Orthogonal Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (RESEARCH NOTE)
There are two types of digital filters including Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and Finite Impulse Response (FIR). IIR filters attract more attention as they can decrease the filter order significantly compared to FIR filters. Owing to multi-modal error surface, simple powerful optimization techniques should be utilized in designing IIR digital filters to avoid local minimum. Imperialist compe...

The application of a general-purpose integer-programming computer program to the design of optimal finite wordlength FIR digital filters is described. Examples of two optimal low-pass FIR finite wordlength filters are given andthe results are compared with the results obtained by rounding the infinite wordlength coefficients. An analysis of the approach based on the results of more than 50 desi...
متن کاملWeighted Least-Squares Method for Designing Variable Fractional Delay 2-D FIR Digital Filters
This paper proposes a closed-form weighted least-squares solution for designing variable two-dimensional (2-D) finite-impulse response (FIR) digital filters with continuously variable 2-D fractional delay responses. First, the coefficients of the variable 2-D transfer function are represented by using the polynomials of a pair of fractional delays ( 1 2). Then the weighted squared-error functio...
متن کاملTelescoping rounding for suboptimal finite wordlength FIR digital filter design
Rounding of the so-called infinite precision coefficients to their nearest finite wordlength representation is often used for reasons of simplicity. This rounding, however, is typically far from optimal. A significantly better rounding method that uses a technique called telescoping is presented in this paper. Its practical effectiveness in the design of suboptimal finite wordlength filters is ...
